So what if you don’t have 50,000 followers on Instagram? Who cares if you don’t get sponsorship deals from cool, new brands? If you’re in Pune, getting a taste of the #travelbloggerlife is pretty easy.
Especially with these 7 travel-worthy spots in the city.
Aga Khan Palace
Till some genius scientist builds a time machine, we’ll have to depend on historical buildings like the Aga Khan Palace in Pune. This regal 19th-century architecture masterpiece that transports you to a bygone era is the closest thing one gets to time-travel. Unfortunately, though it’s very Insta-worthy, photography is prohibited.
Shaniwar Wada Palace
You can go back another century in your time-travel journey by visiting the Shaniwar Wada Palace, which was built in 1732. Like many Indian historical monuments, the ownership switched between different rulers over the ages before it became available to the public for a visit. Also like many Indian historical monuments, it’s claimed to be haunted. So if that bothers you, avoid visiting it post-sunset.
Katraj Snake Park
Hold on, hold on. We know it sounds scary. But we don’t think Katraj Snake Park would be one of the most visited tourist spots in Pune if the 22 species of snakes it houses, including a 13-foot King Cobra, were a threat. And if you’re wondering why it’s so loved, what better way to find out than to pay it a visit.
Given that Pune is a major student city, buzzing with energy, the calm and quiet of the Osho Garden seems like an entirely different world when you enter it (the Japanese Design also contributes in making it so unlike its surroundings). It’s an excellent place for a long walk, meditation session, or just to get a break from life.
We’ll let you in on a secret. Most travel bloggers are just food bloggers in disguise, because what can be more enticing than to visit places and try out the favourite local restaurants. Le Plaiser in the Deccan Gymkhana is one such place. The vegetarians should definitely try the Ratatouille, meat lovers can opt for the Harissa Grilled Chicken, and both can top if off with a Hazelnut Cheesecake.
If you’ve got some really high #travelgoals, is hundreds of feet in the air high enough? Twelve Pilots is a paragliding school that also offers single rides (or should we say ‘glides’?). They have trainers certified from APPI International – (Association Of Professional Pilots & Instructors, Switzerland) if you need confidence for your first time.
Shisha Jazz Cafe
If you’re a jazz aficionado, you’ll love this place. If you’re not a jazz fan, it might turn you into one. Shisha Jazz Cafe is one of the few places (like The Piano Man Jazz Club in Delhi) that’s bringing jazz back to the limelight, one gig at a time. Pair the music with boho decor and delightful Iranian food, and you’ll have a great way to end your day as a travel blogger in Pune.
